A Message from Arayik Harutyunyan at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert
On June 21, numerous citizens gathered at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert to demand the resignation of Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan. The gathering, announced on social media, was initiated after Harutyunyan congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his victory in the Armenian parliamentary elections.
Shortly before, Harutyunyan posted on his Facebook page:
“Dear compatriots, considering the political tension in Artsakh during these days and the accumulated issues in recent months, I will address the public today at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert. I invite everyone to attend today’s rally. My speech will begin at 18:00. I am preparing to speak openly and sincerely about all the main issues and solutions—from the war to the current security and socio-economic situation, and from relations with the Armenian authorities to domestic political developments.
I regret that in this fluid situation, many are losing their reason without understanding the seriousness of the situation for Artsakh’s future. Regardless of some people's attitudes towards me, I bear responsibility for all citizens of Artsakh in this difficult situation. I am looking forward to seeing you all...”
