Detention of a Candidate from the 'Self-Determination Armenia' Party: Davit Sanasarian
After voting, Nairine Martirosyan, the third candidate on the list of the 'Self-Determination Armenia' party, was detained after leaving polling station 6/31. This was reported by Davit Sanasarian, the party's candidate for prime minister.
According to him, plainclothes police approached Ms. Martirosyan, asked if she was Nairine Martirosyan, and upon receiving an affirmative answer, detained her and took her to the Mashtots Police Department.
“I just contacted Ms. Martirosyan, and she mentioned that they apologized for the incident. We condemn such unprofessional behavior by law enforcement agencies. You leave criminals free and detain civilized citizens and candidates,” said Davit Sanasarian.
He also drew attention to another fact regarding the conduct of the election. “At polling station 3/11, the commission members refused to provide the voter with ballot number 26. After demanding the ballot a second time, they explained that 25 parties are participating and there is no number 26. The citizen is ready to give an explanation,” he added.
