Criminal Case Initiated Regarding the Kneeling Detention of Shurnukh's Mayor's Brother
Attorney Gayane Papoyan has made a statement informing that she was summoned as a witness to an investigation by the Special Investigative Service regarding the circumstances surrounding the detention of Ararat Aghabekyan (Ashkharabek), the brother of the administrative head of Shurnukh. This detention was based on video footage taken by her.
"The questioning took place yesterday, and the following was clarified. The criminal case was initiated based on the characteristics outlined in part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, in relation to acts committed by officials performing public service, clearly exceeding the bounds of their authority and involving violence," she wrote.
