Foreign Ministry on Anna Naghdalayan's Appointment as Deputy Ambassador in the U.S.
Reports that former Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalayan has been appointed as Deputy Ambassador of Armenia to the U.S. on May 27 have not yet been confirmed by official sources, and no such order exists. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed the correspondent of 'Fastinfo' that Naghdalayan continues to fulfill her duties at the central apparatus and remains a diplomat subject to rotational rules.
The MFA also specified that Armenia currently does not have a deputy ambassador position in any country. 'Anna Naghdalayan is one of the diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and continues to remain a diplomat in the MFA system. She will work within the diplomatic corps,' the MFA stated.
The source also indicated that the MFA does not rule out that Naghdalayan might leave for a mission soon; she has been appointed to a position and needs to go, but details are not yet known.
It is worth mentioning that, according to media reports, former spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anna Naghdalayan, was appointed as Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the U.S. on May 27. On the same day, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan submitted his resignation.
On May 31, Anna Naghdalayan announced that she was resigning from her position as press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister Gagik Ghalechyan was also relieved from his position.
