Draw with World Cup Runners-Up
The Armenian national football team faced the World Cup runners-up, Croatia, in a friendly match.
According to Armenpress, the game took place at the 'City' stadium in Velika Gorica. At the start of the match, the Armenian team had a good opportunity to open the scoring, but Edgar Babayan’s shot went off target. Subsequently, Croatia took control of the match and took the lead in the 23rd minute with a converted set-piece. Ivan Perišić found the net following a corner kick. The teams went to halftime with Croatia holding a slender advantage.
In the second half, the Croatian national team largely dominated possession. However, the Armenian team capitalized on their chance and equalized thanks to Vbeymar Angulon. Several substitutions made by coach Karpov changed the complexion of the team, which began to play more actively. Ultimately, the match ended in a draw, 1-1.
The next friendly match for Karpov's team will be against Sweden. This match will take place on June 5 and will kick off at 22:45 Yerevan time.
