Dangerous TikTok Challenge Leads to Hospitalization of Over 50 Children
The National Health Service (NHS) of Great Britain has called for a ban on the sale of small spherical magnets in the country after more than 50 children were hospitalized due to a TikTok challenge, reports Express.
According to the challenge, two magnets must be placed on each cheek to create a piercing effect, all while filming. Some children have swallowed the magnets during the recording.
British officials are insisting on a complete ban on the sale of these small magnets. According to the NHS, 65 minors have required emergency surgery due to complications related to these magnets over the past three years.
“Magnets are appealing to children. They may seem like a cheap and positive way to keep kids occupied, but they are actually unsafe and should not be sold,” said NHS spokesperson Simon Keen.
