Storm Causes Damage in Hayanist Village, Ararat Region, As Mayor Assesses Impact
On May 22, a storm wreaked havoc in the Hayanist village of the Ararat region. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the village, strong winds and the storm damaged several power poles and destroyed roofs.
During a conversation with Shamshyan.com, villagers shared, “The storm lasted only a short time, but in that brief period, it caused significant destruction. We were left stunned, unsure of who to turn to for help. From the very first moment, the village mayor, Balabek Sargsyan, has been by our side, but it is no secret that the village council lacks sufficient funds to aid us. We know he has already reached out to the Ararat regional administration, who will likely contact the government, but we aren't sure if the government will provide the assistance we need.”
As a result of the storm, the village also experienced power outages, but the mayor was quick to inform the “Armenian Electric Networks” company about the situation.
