Regulation Must Be Exclusively Political-Diplomatic Methods: Putin Discusses with Aliyev
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on May 19. This was reported by the Kremlin.
During the conversation, they continued discussing the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing the necessity of addressing practical issues to ensure security and stability in the region, in accordance with the letter and spirit of the trilateral statements from November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.
“In this context, attention was paid to the recent incident at the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. The overall sentiment is that regulation must be achieved exclusively through political-diplomatic methods. The Russian side will continue its mediation efforts and provision of consultations to establish an agreement on the commencement of the delimitation and demarcation processes of the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the Kremlin's statement said.
During the telephone conversation, key issues of the bilateral agenda were exchanged. Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the supply of Russian vaccines. Both parties expressed mutual interest in deepening cooperation in all directions.
