Some Azerbaijani Soldiers Who Entered Armenian Territory Remain in the Country: Ministry of Defense
The tension along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border has not changed significantly following the provocations by Azerbaijani forces. After negotiations held on May 16, several groups of Azerbaijani armed forces that had entered the territory of the Republic of Armenia have returned to their original positions. However, some of the soldiers still remain within Armenian territory.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, discussions regarding a peaceful resolution to this issue were held today between the Armenian Minister of Defense and the Russian Minister of Defense, the Secretary General of the CSTO, and the Director of the FSB of Russia. Military attachés accredited in Armenia were also hosted at the Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry of Defense reiterates that any encroachment on the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia is absolutely unacceptable, and to avoid developments fraught with unpredictable consequences, Azerbaijani soldiers must withdraw from our territory unconditionally.
