This is a cheap move: Gorgisyan on reducing the term of military service
It is tempting to make promises during an electoral period that will later be impossible to fulfill, but we know that the Prime Minister has never shied away from that, stated Gevorg Gorgisyan, the secretary of the 'Bright Armenia' parliamentary faction, during the press briefings in the National Assembly, referring to Nikol Pashinyan's announcement that the military service system should be completely changed, the term shortened, with the idea that military service should occur every five years for three months.
“Any idea should be based on some calculations. I am not sure that the Prime Minister has the calculations that would allow us to take such a step today without jeopardizing the country's security. He has not hesitated to make promises during the electoral period, only to later say, 'sorry, circumstances are different, we cannot fulfill it.' I regard this as a cheap move. In trying to reap dividends during the electoral phase, he is making a promise that he cannot implement,” Gorgisyan said.
