The International Community Must Intervene in the Issue of Armenian Prisoners in Azerbaijan: David Babayan
The international community must intervene in the issue of Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, David Babayan, during a conversation with journalists.
“It is necessary to knock on all doors. Yes, the Armenian side has data, but the intervention of the international community is essential; monitoring is required,” the Foreign Minister declared, adding that the media exaggerates information regarding Azerbaijan's involvement in organ trafficking. “To know for sure, the international community must intervene. After the first war, and I say this with 100% confidence, the Azerbaijanis recorded Armenian prisoners and hostages under Azerbaijani names and kept them in prisons. The international community failed to identify them through monitoring. And who knows, maybe it is still the same now? But the fact is that there may be more prisoners than Azerbaijan claims,” the minister said.
Commenting on Azerbaijan's attempts to portray prisoners of war as terrorists, Babayan recalled three Azerbaijani terrorists who infiltrated the territory of Artsakh. “One was neutralized. The other two underwent an open, transparent trial with the participation of representatives from international organizations and the media. It was proven that they were terrorists and criminals. Yet, there is nothing like that here,” the minister said.
