Officials Questioned in Patron Davo Case: Details
According to the Jroghvourd newspaper, officials from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia have been summoned and questioned by the National Security Service (NSS) regarding the criminal case involving David Galstyan, known as Patron Davo. David Galstyan's attorney, Armen Harutyunyan, confirmed this information in our conversation but did not wish to disclose names due to the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation.
Nevertheless, Jroghvourd managed to learn from its sources that the NSS has also summoned Major General Poghos Poghosyan, head of the Armament Department of the Armenian Armed Forces, as he was part of the weapons procurement commission.
Attorney Armen Harutyunyan informed Jroghvourd that during this time, David Galstyan has provided testimony to the NSS multiple times and maintains that he does not accept the charges against him. According to Harutyunyan, they plan to appeal to the Armenian Court of Cassation regarding the change of Galstyan's preventive measure from detention.
It is worth recalling that David Galstyan, who is known for supplying weapons to Armenia and is more widely known by the nickname Patron Davo, was an advisor to former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan. According to the NSS, his company, Mosston Engineering, signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense to supply shells of the appropriate caliber for howitzers produced between 1983 and 1986 in 2018, but instead supplied a different type of shells produced in Czechoslovakia in 1977, which significantly fell short in tactical characteristics and rendered combat tasks impossible.
