Romella Abovyan: New Restrictions Possible Amid Rapid Increase of COVID-19 Cases
Romella Abovyan, the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, has not ruled out the possibility of implementing restrictions in light of the rapid increase in COVID-19 infections. She noted that since January 15, safety protocols have not been adequately followed; people are not wearing masks, and social distancing is not being maintained in closed spaces.
“If we, as the population and business operators, adhere to safety guidelines, there will be no need for further restrictions. If the situation continues as it did yesterday, with over 700 cases registered in a single day, it is likely that we will need to consider additional restrictive measures,” she stated.
