Pashinyan Demands Punishment for Sagatelyan and Protesters from 5 Police Leaders
Sources from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's circle have revealed details about police actions organized near the government building on February 23. Aram Gabrielyanov writes on his Telegram channel.
“After the opposition leader Ishkhan Sagatelyan announced the blockade of the government building, Nikol erupted in a fit of hysteria, declaring, ‘This is my country, I make all the decisions here, not a group of Yerevan ruffians.’ Following this, he summoned the five police leaders and demanded that they harshly punish Sagatelyan and the protesters. ‘If you want, I can tell you how you refused to fight in Artsakh,’ he said.”
The police leadership has formed a staff consisting of five members. All five, fearing disgrace, have sworn loyalty to Pashinyan and promised to make the Armenian police stand by the Prime Minister’s side. Nikol concluded the consultation by shouting, ‘Only blood can bind everyone together.’
Among the five officials in the protest response team are senior police officers:
- Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan
- Police Chief Deputy Aram Hovhannisyan
- Police Deputy Vardan Movsisyan
- Yerevan Police Chief Sevan Kocharyan
- Commander of Internal Troops Hayk Babayan.
