Maria Zakharova Speaks on the Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated during today’s press briefing that the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone has been stable in recent days.
“No violations of the ceasefire regime have been recorded. The Russian peacekeeping forces are maintaining control over 27 observation posts, continuing to clear the territory of explosive hazards, and ensuring the safe return of refugees,” she said.
She noted that the implementation of the statements made by the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, was discussed on February 17 during negotiations between the President of Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia, as well as with the Russian Foreign Minister and their Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts.
Work is also ongoing within an expert group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of the three countries. Zakharova reminded that the second meeting of the group took place on February 12 via videoconference.
