34 kg of Cocaine Found in Shipment of Bananas
On Tuesday, a large-scale operation took place at the Piraeus port, during which 34 kg of cocaine was seized, reports Greek City Times.
The operation was conducted by agents of the drug enforcement agency in cooperation with a team from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security attached to the U.S. Embassy in Athens.
The 34 kg of cocaine was hidden in 28 bags within a shipment of bananas imported from Ecuador. The container was sent on January 10, 2021, from the port of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and arrived at the port of Athens on February 2.
