Conscription Soldiers Will No Longer Go to Artsakh
Conscription soldiers will no longer be sent to Artsakh. The winter draft has effectively begun, and as reported by Sputnik Armenia, citizens of the Republic of Armenia eligible for conscription will serve only in military units located within the republic's territory.
The media also managed to clarify that Artsakh military units are not included in the options during the traditional lottery process for conscription.
Earlier, information had circulated in the press and social media regarding the disbandment of the Artsakh Defense Army. Vitali Balasanyan, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Artsakh, later announced that the state bodies of Artsakh are currently engaged in forming professional units on a contractual basis.
Subsequently, the President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, issued a statement denying the news of the disbandment of the Defense Army.
