Azerbaijan's Latest International Hoax
The Azerbaijani news agency Report has spread yet another hoax, this time in the name of Italy, claiming that Italy has invited Azerbaijan to participate in the G20 summit in Rome. In response to an inquiry from Armenpress, Giovanni Nicola Dionisi, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Italian Embassy in Armenia, stated that the news is baseless.
“The reports that Italy has invited Azerbaijan to be present at the G20 summit are unfounded, and no other information in this regard has been disseminated or confirmed,” the embassy stated.
This year's G20 summit will take place on October 30-31.
Regarding Italy's position on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the embassy noted that it is clear, well-considered, and presented in the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy dated November 11, 2020. “Italy welcomes the tripartite statement on the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia and hopes that it will be fully upheld. We also take note of the agreements reached between the parties, hoping that they will open a new path for establishing peace and stabilizing the situation in the region,” the statement said.
The Italian Foreign Ministry also noted that, as a member country of the OSCE Minsk Group, it fully supports the co-chairing countries.
