Azerbaijan's Ambassador Refuses to Attend Meeting in The Hague Upon Learning Armenia's Ambassador Is Invited
A new scandal is brewing between the Netherlands and Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani ambassador in The Hague, Fikret Akhundov, canceled his participation in the parliamentary foreign relations committee meeting at the last minute after learning that Armenia's ambassador was also invited to the meeting.
The foreign relations committee, as a compromise, invited the ambassadors to speak separately and not be present at the committee meeting simultaneously. However, according to the committee chair, Fondaevind, the Azerbaijani ambassador declined even this option and did not engage with the Azerbaijani side with the Foreign Relations Committee.
During the foreign relations committee meeting, the Armenian ambassador to the Netherlands, Tigran Balayan, delivered a speech.
