US Congress Introduces Bill for Sanctions Against Russia in Navalny Case
A group of Democratic and Republican senators have introduced a bill in Congress for imposing anti-Russian sanctions related to the case of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny. This was reported by the press service of Senator Marco Rubio (Republican, Florida), as conveyed by TASS.
The legislation proposes targeted sanctions against Russian officials involved in gross violations of international law, specifically addressing the poisoning and imprisonment of Alexei Navalny.
One of the provisions of the bill requires the Washington administration to report on the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.
Additionally, one of the clauses of the bill is dedicated to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Congress believes that the Secretary of State should call on the German government to withdraw support for the construction of the pipeline.
