Blizzard in the "Chayni" Turn on the Yerevan-Sevan Highway: Ministry of Emergency Situations
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads within the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed, as well as the roads from the "Amberd" high mountain weather station in the Aragatsotn region to Amberd Fortress and to Kary Lake. The Dilijan turns and the Chiva-Elpin road in the Vayots Dzor region are closed for trucks with trailers. The Tigranashen turns in the Ararat region are impassable.
Snow has fallen in the regions of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Gegharkunik, Shirak, Lori, and Vayots Dzor, in Charentsavan, Hrazdan, Abovyan in Kotayk region, in Vagarshapat in Armavir region, in Berd in Tavush region, in Sisian and Kapan regions of Syunik, and in an area called "Meghru Sar". There are blizzard conditions in the "Chayni" turns of the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
There are spots of black ice in the section of Saravan-"Zanger" and in the roads of Aragats region in Aragatsotn.
According to the information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Crisis Management Center in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for trucks, with about 400 heavy vehicles accumulated on the Russian side.
Based on the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the decision to prohibit foreign nationals from entering Georgia remains in effect. This prohibition does not concern freight transportation.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
