«If they can, let them remove me». Mayor Marutyan does not plan to resign, he is gathering a team
The newspaper has learned that recently, the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, stated in his close circle that he is not even considering resigning or giving his position to someone else. Our sources report that Marutyan mentioned that he was elected by the public, enjoys respect, and has thought long and hard, concluding that he should not take such a step under any circumstances.
“If they can, let them remove me,” he said. According to our sources, the mayor is gathering a team in the municipality and administrative regions, further solidifying his positions.
The fact is that the relationships between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Mayor Hayk Marutyan have been very tense recently. It can be said that they hardly communicate anymore, and the admiration that Pashinyan once had for Marutyan has faded. Meanwhile, Marutyan has also started to speak poorly about Pashinyan and his team, and his relations with the members of the Yerevan Council’s “My Step” faction have also soured.
It is obvious that because of Marutyan's behavior, Yerevan has been suffering for several years, as he is neglecting all the issues that require urgent solutions. Meanwhile, builders continue to wait for months just to obtain a single paper.
