Edgar Ghazaryan Detained While Trying to Circumvent Square Events, Lawyer Says
Today, Edgar Ghazaryan, the former head of the Constitutional Court staff, was detained from the Republic Square area on suspicion of committing an act under Article 219 of the Criminal Code, related to the seizure of buildings, structures, transportation, communication, or means of communication. This was stated by lawyer Armen Galstyan.
This information was reported by Tert.am.
The lawyer noted that Ghazaryan was quite far from the ongoing events in Republic Square at the time of his detention. “He tried to circumvent the events, and the police detained him. About 4 hours have passed since the detention, and we still haven’t been released; actions are still being taken which are already illegal for us, as we have been held for this long,” he said.
It is noteworthy that today, citizens were in front of the Government demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and police had detained several individuals.
