Davitt Tonoyan Attempts to Break Negative Public Perception: 'Past'
During the entire war, former Defense Minister Davitt Tonoyan was 'visible' only once or twice, and has maintained complete silence in the post-war period. Yesterday, he gave an interview, attempting in some way to 'cleanse' himself, justify his actions, and redirect criticism.
Specifically, he notes that 'the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces have sincerely and selflessly done more than what was possible for victory.' He then adds a point that might serve as the crux of the interview: 'With the new Constitution adopted in 2015, during wartime, the Minister of Defense is, in fact, removed from the planning and execution of military operations, as these powers are reserved for the Supreme Commander and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.'
