Roads Closed Across Armenia, Reports Emergency Situations Ministry
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads across Armenia. The roads leading from the ‘Amberd’ high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and to Kari Lake are currently closed. Additionally, the Vardenyats Pass is closed only for trailer trucks.
In Aragatsotn Province, the Aparan-Aragatz road, and in Vayots Dzor Province, sections from Saravan to ‘Zanger’ and roads towards the city of Jermuk, as well as the Agavnadzor-Areni roads, are experiencing black ice. Some roads in Syunik Province also have varying conditions due to black ice.
Regarding Lars, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed only for freight vehicles, while there are 760 freight trucks accumulated on the Russian side.
According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the decision prohibiting foreigners from entering Georgia remains in effect, although this ban does not apply to cargo transports. Drivers are advised to use winter tires exclusively.
