Turkey Does Not Recognize Armenia as a Separate Country on the Map, Says Former Russian General
“Only the naive believe that Turkey and Azerbaijan are ready for peace with Armenia. Turkey does not see Armenia as a separate country on the map. It views Armenia, with its territories, as part of its pan-Turkic project,” said Leonid Ivashov, a former chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.
He emphasized that the normal Armenia-Russia relations should be replaced with a new quality of relations, a new unity based on the former Soviet heritage. Without this, it is impossible to overcome the Turkish threat,” he added.
