International Air Traffic in Georgia May Resume From February 1
International air traffic in Georgia may resume from February 1. This information is reported by the Грузия Онлайн portal, referencing Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava.
The Georgian government has postponed the resumption of regular international flights several times. Due to the worsening epidemiological situation, the current ban is in effect until January 31, 2021.
“I cannot specify a precise date, but most likely February will be the month when we lift the restrictions on regular flights. Again, this does not mean chaotic and uncontrolled entry into the country. This will be a controlled entry with tests, vaccination certificates, and other equivalent documents, but this is the first hope for the start of the tourism season,” Turnava said.
According to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, the restriction on regular flights does not apply to international flights connecting Tbilisi International Airport with airports in Munich, Paris, Riga, Doha, Warsaw, Athens, Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, and Milan. The restrictions also do not apply to planned flights from Kutaisi International Airport to Riga, Katowice, Vilnius, and Dortmund airports.
