Stepantsminda-Lars Road Closed Due to Avalanche Danger; 340 Trucks Blocked on Russian Side
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has announced that there are closed roads in the territory of Armenia. In the Aragatsotn region, the roads from the "Amberd" high mountainous meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and to the K'ari Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to traverse for trucks with trailers.
In the city of Aparan in the Aragatsotn region, there are patches of black ice present. Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Georgian Emergency Situations Department and the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s Crisis Management Center in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles due to the danger of avalanches, and there are currently 340 trucks accumulated on the Russian side.
According to information from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision prohibiting the entry of foreigners into Georgia remains in effect. This prohibition does not apply to freight transport. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
