My Step Supporters Admit: The Mandate was Granted by Pashinyan
As the issue of whether the representatives of the parliamentary majority, "My Step," will resign from their mandates or leave the faction is widely discussed, some lawmakers are admitting that their mandates were gifted to them by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Although those who have left the faction assure reporters that they convinced the voter door-to-door, the sentiments within the faction are quite different. Days ago, "Irates" reported that more than ten lawmakers within the ruling majority are demanding Pashinyan's resignation; however, visible actions to support this are lacking.
While our interlocutor insisted that they raise pressing issues and that not leaving the faction does not restrain them, it is evident that faction leaders have clearly set a requirement for everyone: either relinquish the mandate and give way to a new member who will not oppose the team or come to terms with the circumstances.
In an interview with "Irates," one government lawmaker candidly shared, "And who gave that mandate? Did they earn it themselves? Almost all of them received it as a gift from Pashinyan. They received votes under his name, campaigned under his name, telling people that by voting for us, they are voting for Nikol. So how can they now say that people voted for 'My Step' because they know them? That is simply absurd. If they want to go, they can go, but leaving the faction is simply betrayal towards both the team and the prime minister. I have been and will remain by his side; I do not hesitate even one percent," reports the "Irates" newspaper.
