Footballer Arkadi Andreasyan Has Passed Away
One of the greatest footballers in Armenian history, Arkadi Andreasyan, passed away on the night of December 22. The information was confirmed in a conversation with a NEWS.am Sport correspondent by family members of the legendary footballer.
The former midfielder of Yerevan's Ararat and the USSR national team died due to heart problems. The legendary footballer was 73 years old.
Since the summer of 2019, Arkadi Andreasyan had been working at the Yerevan club Urartu, where he served as Deputy Director for Development.
Arkadi Andreasyan became a bronze medalist at the 1972 Olympic Games held in Munich as part of the USSR national team. In 1973, he was crowned champion of the USSR in the ranks of Yerevan's Ararat, and in 1973 and 1975, he won the USSR Cup.
After retiring from his football career, Andreasyan began his coaching career in 1979. Over the years, he coached Ararat, leading them to become the Armenian Cup winner (1996/97), Super Cup winner (2009), and three-time silver medalist of the Armenian Championship (1996/97, 1999, 2000).
