CIS Countries Approve Military Cooperation Concept Until 2025
The member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have approved a military cooperation concept until 2025. According to Armenpress, citing the organization's official website, the corresponding decision was adopted by the heads of state of the CIS.
According to the document, the key objective of military cooperation is to maintain a stable dynamic of interaction in the field of defense and military security among CIS countries for the benefit of the participants and to ensure stable and harmonious development of cooperation as a whole.
The priorities of military cooperation include maintaining friendly relations, strengthening confidence-building measures, facilitating the development of national armed forces, and ensuring both joint and national security.
The dominant areas of cooperation encompass military, military-political, military-technical, and military-humanitarian sectors, countering international terrorism and other modern military-related challenges and threats, military education, training of military personnel, the development of military science, peacekeeping activities, and the socio-legal sector, as stated in the document.
According to the document, the issues of military cooperation can be adjusted based on the development needs of the national armed forces of CIS countries, while the main forms of military cooperation can be supplemented depending on the specific characteristics of the fields of cooperation.
Furthermore, the organizational and legal mechanism allows interested member states, observer countries, and partners to join multilateral military cooperation and participate in activities.
