The 'San Paolo' stadium in Naples has officially been renamed in honor of former Napoli player Diego Armando Maradona, who passed away on November 25. The decision was unanimously approved by the Naples City Council.
The official resolution states that Maradona is considered 'the greatest football player of all time.' Maradona played for Napoli from 1984 to 1991, becoming a two-time Italian champion (1986/87, 1989/90), a cup winner, and a super cup winner, as well as the winner of the UEFA Cup (1988/89).
