French Parliament's Resolutions Provide Strong Basis for Recognition of Artsakh: MFA of the Republic of Artsakh
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has issued a statement regarding the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly.
“We welcome the resolution adopted by the Lower House of the French Parliament, the National Assembly, on December 4. This resolution reinforces the crucial position expressed in the resolution adopted by the French Senate on November 25 regarding the need for the country’s government to recognize the Republic of Artsakh.
We emphasize that this resolution, which complements the position of the French Parliament, categorically condemns the armed aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, supported by Turkey and mercenary terrorists, as well as the crimes committed against the civilian population based on national hatred.
We also highly appreciate the efforts of French parliamentarians to facilitate humanitarian assistance to Artsakh in collaboration with the French authorities and other European countries, which will be a significant contribution to effectively addressing the humanitarian crisis arising in our republic as a result of the war.
We are hopeful that the resolutions adopted by both chambers of the French Parliament on the recognition of the Republic of Artsakh will serve as a solid political foundation for the French central authorities to recognize the Republic of Artsakh.
Once again, we emphasize that the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh will guarantee the rights of the citizens of Artsakh to live freely and with dignity in their homeland and will contribute to ensuring stronger security, stability, and predictability in the South Caucasus region.
The adoption of resolutions on the recognition of Artsakh’s independence will also provide additional momentum to the political settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, which should be based on the recognition of the realization of the right to self-determination by the people of Artsakh,” the statement reads.
