Citizens Block Turkish Trucks on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway
For over 1.5 hours, a tense situation has developed in the administrative area of Ashtarak on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. A group of citizens noticed several trucks with Turkish license plates moving through the area, after which they stopped them and prohibited their movement.
In a conversation with SHAMSHYAN.com, the citizens expressed their frustration, stating: “The Turks are fighting against Armenians with Azerbaijanis and mercenaries, and our government does not see this? Especially during these days, how can Turkish trucks move freely? It is interesting, would our Armenian trucks be able to safely navigate through Azerbaijan or Turkey like this? Definitely, that would not happen. If the Turk is beheading, bombing peaceful residences, hospitals, what else can you expect from them? We demand that the government take action on this issue. They say we should boycott Turkish goods; if we are boycotting, how are these trucks entering and exiting freely in Armenia? We should speak with the Turk-Azerbaijani in their own language.”
Currently, police services from the Ashtarak division have arrived at the scene, and after negotiations with the citizens, the trucks were moved to the Ashtarak police division to clarify the circumstances.
