Some Bodies of Fallen Armenian Soldiers Under Azerbaijani Control: Artsakh Human Rights Defender

“We have information from both open and closed sources that there are bodies of fallen Armenian soldiers that are under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Considering the atrocities recorded during the April 2016 war against both living and deceased soldiers, including beheadings, torture, and mutilation of corpses, we have also documented all these cases in the Human Rights Defender’s report. In 90% of all cases, similar violations have been recorded.

It is very important to note that after these events, Azerbaijani authorities publicly rewarded and encouraged individuals who committed such crimes. In this context, I believe that the bodies of our soldiers are now under serious threat and it is highly likely that they may be subjected to further rights violations and atrocities. From this perspective, the international human rights community has a significant role to play in preventing such violations,” stated Artak Beglaryan.
