Lady Gaga Inspired by Parajanov's "Color of the Pomegranate" Film
Singer Lady Gaga has showcased the music video for her song "911," which features elements from the works of Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov. Surrounded by Parajanovian symbols, Gaga participates in various rituals and appears in different characters.
At first glance, the red pomegranates scattered on the ground evoke associations with the film, and later, the "Armenian Film Festival" sign and the poster of the film "Color of the Pomegranate" also appear.
According to the plot of the music video, Lady Gaga's character gets into an accident near the cinema building where the Armenian film festival is taking place. The director of the video is Indian Tarsem Singh, who has collaborated with global stars such as Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez. It is known that he often speaks about the influence of Parajanov on his art, so it is not surprising that in working with Gaga, he decided to combine Parajanovian symbols with the singer's distinctive persona.
