Aliyev's Expectations from Armenia's Nuclear Power Station

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has spoken about Armenia's energy system and the Metsamor nuclear power plant. According to Azerbaijani media, Aliyev stated that the main source of energy for Armenia is currently the nuclear power plant, but it is outdated and poses a danger to the region.

Aliyev pointed out that the operational lifespan of the nuclear power plant cannot be extended indefinitely, and sooner or later it must be closed. In his words, in that case, Armenia may face serious energy challenges, so having additional electricity sources could be beneficial for Armenia.

The Azerbaijani president also announced that Azerbaijani specialists have already studied Armenia's territory and, according to him, identified locations where electricity transmission line supports could be installed. Aliyev noted that Baku expects the Armenian side not to delay the resolution of the issue, as additional electricity sources are primarily necessary for Armenia itself.
