Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has given an interview during his visit to Nakhichevan, announcing that the project for constructing an electricity transmission line from Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan through Armenian territory within the framework of the TRIPP project is ready. He stated that Azerbaijani specialists have already conducted analyses and identified specific locations for the installation of transmission line poles.

Aliyev also announced that the TRIPP project has already commenced. According to him, during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on August 8, the two sides agreed that the project will be implemented "in the near future."

“The railway being constructed within the TRIPP project will reach the Armenian border by next year. The Horadiz-Aghband highway is practically ready,” he noted.

Aliyev emphasized that the European Union is interested in the Nakhichevan railway project. “Union representatives have already visited Nakhichevan to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground. The EU, as well as several other international organizations and countries, are interested in this transportation route and wish to become participants in the project,” he remarked.

Aliyev also highlighted that upon the restoration of the Nakhichevan railway, a second railway connecting Azerbaijan to Iran will be constructed. “The North-South transport corridor is directed towards the Persian Gulf. From there, it can stretch as far as Pakistan, which is located close to this region,” he concluded.
