Washington Restricts Kiev's Strikes: Vens' Demand to Zelensky

The U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vens has demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cease attacks on the oil infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). This was reported by the Financial Times, citing American and Ukrainian officials.

Vens discussed this issue with Zelensky during a phone call on July 31. Following that conversation, Kyiv reportedly halted strikes on oil tankers near the CPC terminal, according to sources.

The CPC is crucial for the export of oil from Kazakhstan. The approximately 1500 km long pipeline transports oil from the Caspian Sea region to the Black Sea coast, from where it is shipped to global markets.

Earlier, on July 30, the CPC reported that two tankers near its marine terminal in the Black Sea had been attacked by Ukrainian drones. After that, oil loading was temporarily suspended.

The U.S. administration has also warned Kyiv about the necessity of ceasing attacks on ships in the Black Sea that are not connected to Russia, according to the publication.
