Lukashenko Removes Ambassador Who Supported Protesters
The Belarusian ambassador to Spain, Pavel Pustovoy, has been removed from his position and stripped of his diplomatic title. According to the publication 'Наша нива', the decree states that he has been dismissed for improper performance of duties.
The report notes that the ambassador had previously called for a recount of votes and proposed open court sessions for those who had assaulted peaceful protesters during demonstrations.
Earlier, Lukashenko also removed the ambassador to Slovakia, Igor Leshchenya, who publicly condemned the use of heavy-handed tactics against opposition activists.
