Supporters and Opponents of Alexander Lukashenko Gather in Central Minsk

Supporters and opponents of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko have gathered in Independence Square in the center of Minsk, reports RIA Novosti.

Several hundred people have assembled in the square; the opposition is identifiable by their white-red-white flags, while the supporters display the Belarusian national flags, military banners, and St. George ribbons. Opponents of the regime have gathered near the Lenin monument and the road leading to the government house. The number of participants in the protest is almost the same as it was yesterday.

A group of Lukashenko's supporters initially gathered in Independence Square and then marched on foot towards Victory Square, chanting “Belarus” and applauding along the way. Upon arriving at Victory Square, they formed a circle and declared their support for peace.

During the march, Lukashenko’s supporters were greeted by the president's opponents waving white-red-white flags, leading to a heated debate between the two sides regarding politics and the recent election. Nevertheless, the procession has remained peaceful.
