Antonio Guterres Calls for Cessation of Hostilities and Avoidance of Provocative Rhetoric
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is deeply concerned about the use of heavy weapons along the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border and the resulting casualties, according to a statement from his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric.
Guterres expressed his full support for the efforts of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at finding a negotiated solution to overcome the dangerous situation.
“The Secretary-General urges an immediate cessation of hostilities, calling on the parties involved to take urgent steps towards de-escalation and to refrain from provocative rhetoric,” the statement reads.
