HETC Fined 10 Million Dram for Higher Readings on Residents' Electricity Consumption
The Public Services Regulatory Commission fined the "Armenian Electric Networks" CJSC 10 million drams during its meeting on July 8 for recording higher readings on residents' electricity consumption.
A working group established based on the order of the chairman of the PSRC conducted monitoring in the "Ararat", "Ashtarak", "Abovyan", and "Dilijan" electric networks of the company to investigate possible discrepancies in the amount of electricity delivered to individual consumers between May 4-8, 2020.
Specifically, the examination of 720 consumer commercial accounting devices and the recording of actual readings were carried out, which were then compared to the readings recorded by HETC employees between May 1-3, 2020, using the appropriate blank forms.
It was found that the readings registered by the employees on 63 meters during the May 1-3 period were higher than the readings obtained by the working group from the same commercial meters during the May 4-8 period.
Additionally, it was established that the covers of the seals were absent on 142 commercial meters, and consequently, the seals were missing as well. Furthermore, 176 commercial meters had unsealed covers.
According to the PSRC's decision, "The company is fined 10 million drams for violating requirements. Corrections must be made regarding the discrepancies in the readings and expenses of 63 meters registered between May 1-3 by rectifying the errors in the accounting documentation."
