Third Level of Infection Identified in China: Case of Bubonic Plague Reported
A case of bubonic plague has been detected in a herder in Inner Mongolia, northern China. This was reported by РИА Новости, referencing the health commission of Bayan Nur city.
"The man had been in an epidemiological area of bubonic plague prior to falling ill. He is now receiving isolated treatment, and his condition is assessed as stable," the commission stated.
The patient was hospitalized the day before with suspicions of bubonic plague. Following this, the third level of epidemiological precaution was declared in Urad Middle Banner, an administrative unit of Bayan Nur city.
According to authorities, there is a potential risk of disease spread among the population in the city.
Bubonic plague spreads through rodents belonging to the marmot family, which local residents consume in their diet despite the existing ban.
