Gagik Khachatryan's Detention Extended by Two Months
The General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan has approved the motion to extend the detention of former head of the State Revenue Committee and former Minister of Finance, Gagik Khachatryan, by two months. This judicial decision was made by Judge Artush Gabrielyan.
In an interview with NEWS.am, Gagik Khachatryan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, stated that the court is not taking into account the fact that Khachatryan has health issues and cannot be held in detention. “Gagik Khachatryan has spinal stenosis, which requires treatment. He is in such a condition that he cannot arrange for care in the prison. Medical intervention is needed, which is not being organized in Armenia. A medical consultation has been conducted three times in Armenia, regarding treatment organization, and it was found that stenosis does not require correction, whereas medical consultations done in France and Germany concluded that medical intervention is necessary,” he said.
