Unemployed Parents Living in Villages Will Also Receive Childcare Benefits Until Their Child Turns 2

The Parliament has adopted, in the first reading, a draft law proposed by the government by a vote of 90 in favor, which proposes to allocate and pay childcare benefits to parents living in rural areas until their child turns 2, regardless of whether the parent is employed or unemployed. If the parent is also employed, the benefit will be doubled.

Thus, with the adoption of this law, the right to childcare benefits will also be established for parents living in rural areas until their child reaches 2 years of age, irrespective of whether the parent is on parental leave as an employee. If the parent is both a wage earner and resides in a rural area, they will receive two benefits totaling 53,000 drams.

According to the draft, it is proposed to establish that the right to childcare benefits is granted to the parent who is registered with the state population registry at the rural address along with the child and has been residing there continuously for at least one year on the day of the child's birth or when applying for the childcare benefit, until the child turns two.
