UK Foreign Office Responds to Large-Scale Military Exercises in Azerbaijan
The UK Foreign Office has addressed concerns raised by the Armenian National Committee of the UK regarding extensive, undeclared military exercises taking place in Azerbaijan.
The Armenian National Committee reported that they have approached the UK Foreign Office, expressing concerns about Azerbaijan conducting offensive military drills from May 18 to 22, involving heavy weaponry, aviation, and armored vehicles near the borders of Armenia and Artsakh.
According to the Armenian National Committee, these exercises are being held despite the UN's call for a global ceasefire. In response, the UK Foreign Office stated, “Any military action during this period is regrettable. We hope that they will cease as soon as possible. The UK supports the UN Secretary-General's call to allow the international community to focus on combating the coronavirus pandemic.”
