Discussion on Gas Tariff Review at the Public Services Regulatory Commission
The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia is discussing the issue of reviewing natural gas prices and the tariffs for gas supply services during its session.
According to Armenpress, the meeting on June 19 will address the pricing of natural gas sold to consumers by Gazprom Armenia LLC, as well as the tariffs for the operator's services in the gas supply system, natural gas distribution tariffs, and the setting of the gas transportation tariff by Transgaz LLC.
Gazprom Armenia submitted an application for tariff review on April 1. While Gazprom Armenia proposed a uniform tariff applicable to all consumers without differentiation between groups, the Commission’s staff suggested maintaining the current main consumer groups. This proposal takes into account recommendations presented by the government via respective decisions. The staff also suggests continuing to treat greenhouse farms operating in the agricultural sector, processing organizations, and socially vulnerable families as separate consumer groups, potentially allowing for lower tariffs for them.
As a result, the staff recommended keeping the natural gas price unchanged at 139,000 drams per 1,000 cubic meters for the general population, excluding socially vulnerable consumers. For socially vulnerable households, the annual price for up to 600 cubic meters of natural gas is also proposed to remain unchanged at 100,000 drams per 1,000 cubic meters.
