Around 20 Cases of Coronavirus Recorded in Kindergartens, Employees Will Receive 100% of Their Salary: Spokesperson
The Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, has proposed to the Chief of Police, Tigran Avinyan, to temporarily suspend the operations of kindergartens in Yerevan. It is noteworthy that this decision does not apply to private kindergartens. Within the framework of this proposal, it is likely that one or two kindergartens centralized in each administrative district will operate for the children of that district.
In a conversation with ArmDaily.am, the spokesperson for the city hall, Hakob Karapetyan, mentioned that before the reopening of kindergartens, attendance was about 10 percent, which has gradually decreased to about 6-7 percent in recent weeks.
When asked how many employees tested positive for coronavirus during this period, Karapetyan replied, “About 20 cases have been recorded. We also have cases where members of the families of children attending kindergartens have tested positive for coronavirus. Considering the low number of attendees, this decision has been made.”
The spokesperson noted that the mayor has appealed to the Chief of Police to ensure that one or two kindergartens continue to operate in each administrative district, “where residents of the district can bring their children.”
Regarding the criteria for determining which kindergarten in each administrative district will continue to operate, Karapetyan stated, “There will be specific criteria based on geographic location, the condition of the kindergarten, its equipment, etc. The proposal has been sent to the Chief of Police, and I believe the decision will not be delayed.”
Karapetyan also mentioned that employees of the kindergartens will continue to receive their salaries. “Regardless of whether they work or not, employees registered in community positions will receive 100% of their salaries.”
