Andranik Kocharyan's Comments on His Son's Military Exemptions
In a briefing with reporters at the National Assembly, Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction, addressed the issue of his son missing military conscription twice after completing his graduate studies. Is there any justification for this?
“You can find those justifications at the Ministry of Defense. My son has completed his graduate studies and is currently defending his thesis. If that thesis is not approved, he will naturally go to serve, and there are several conscription opportunities before he turns 27... One of my sons is currently serving in Artsakh, and he is under more scrutiny than any of our conscripts who are in service... I advise children to leave my son alone; if you have a problem with me, put it to me. If my son has violated any laws, do not doubt it, he will be punished, but he has not violated the law; he is an independent person who has formed a family, received an excellent education, and defended it remarkably. As for whether he had a deferment or not, you can check with the Ministry of Defense, if you do not have issues with personal data,” Kocharyan stated.
